This is a print of an original watercolor I painted in the Old City. It can also be viewed on Sketchcrawl #19.

I had a great time working on this piece. The Old City in knoxville TN is only a couple of block long but has some beautiful architectural design to it. Patrick Sullivan’s saloon is one that caught my eye.

Spotted Crow

by on Jun.20, 2008, under Uncategorized

This is an original oil painting of two crows watching the night fall. The spotted crow is a tribute to one of my favorite books when I was growing up “Put Me in the Zoo” by Robert Lopshire. The colors used are rich and allude to the peacefulness that comes with the setting sun.

Mirror and Beside Myself – March Exhibit

 Mirror                                       Beside Myself – Sold

Tribal and urban archetypes are combined in my paintings to create a conceptual workspace merging dream and nature in a unified artistic sphere with many destinations. These destinations, or dimensional intersections, are starting points for stories that pose questions concerning the junction of dream life and the workday world. Layered totemic symbols drawn from life are used as guides through dreams and reality driving toward a threshold or epiphany fraught with drama, anticipation and apprehension.

I envision this body of work as a symbolic narrative. The allegory is told through the systematic application of broad strokes creating a labyrinth of depth with colors that are active and still.   The paintings, as a group and individually, portray a passage or progress from one stage of life to another.
